Fresh ingredients, made just like in Rio. How did we start?...
Lucy is a native of Rio de Janeiro and came to the United States 25 years ago to learn English. While here she fell in love with an American named Scott. Lucy’s passion for cooking led to her quest to create a homestyle restaurant that brings the flavors of Rio de Janeiro with the “Café” environment of Rio.
While she was here, Lucy also fell in love with Utah. Even though there is snow and no beaches, she was won over with the beauty of the scenic mountain ranges, the many National Parks, and the lovely old buildings. Lucy was very impressed with the downtown neighborhood of Provo, the environment and the friendly business owners throughout Center Street. The streetscape reminded her of the business district of downtown Rio with corner cafés, little shops and small family owned restaurants. Lucy was so impressed with the downtown environment that she decided this was the place for Lucy’s Brazilian Kitchen.
Lucy’s Brazilian Kitchen accentuates the flavors of Brazil with true authentic dishes and recipes. With the glass store front and wood stained double door on University Avenue, the setting couldn’t be better to portray what it would be like to be sitting in a small café on the streets near Copacabana beach. The inside is decorated with photos of Rio including a wall mural of the famous “Corcovado” Christ the Redeemer statue looking over the City.
Come share in our enthusiasm and love of the culture of Brazil, Brazilian Limeade and the famous “Pao De Queijo” (Brazilian Cheese Bread).
